Porto de Galinhas
In the past, Porto de Galinhas was called Porto Rico, when became a place where people traded slaves to work in the plantations of sugar cane. To evade the control of the illegal transaction, slaves were transported together with guinea fowl and passwords were created by traffickers ("Tem galinha nova no porto" — "There are new chickens in the port"), that is why the origin of the name.
Porto de Galinhas is a major tourist destination and it is also famous abroad and located in the south of the state capital.
It is perfect for aquatic sports lovers like scubadiving, surf, kitesurf and others which makes it one of the most beautiful beach in Brazil.
There are some of the most recommended activities to take advantage of when you first arrival to Porto de Galinhas because they are the best way to explore the beach. The natural pools can be found at the central beach and they are located only 200m away from the coastline which means that they are accessible by jangada.You also can take a look at the seahorses at Pontal de Maracaípe by the means of a small fishing boat. The buggy tours are also recommended to enjoy the place.
Nightlife in Porto de Galinhas is somewhat quiet and very special. For those who do not want to go to bed early, there are a collection of bars and clubs with live music for people who likes dancing or listening to some music.
